Path Of Exile 3.20: 5 Tips To Improve Your Sanctum Run

Jan 12, 2023 Author: POECurrency.com

Good day, Exiles! In this article, I'd like to share five tips and tricks for completing your Sanctum runs successfully.

The Basics

Let's start with the basics of each Sanctum first. Each full Sanctum consists of 32 rooms a player must go through and is divided into four sections with their respective miniboss encounters at the end of each.

A run is finished upon reaching and defeating the fourth floor boss, Lysia or the optional Beyond Boss encounter that falls after her. While advancing through your Sanctum, you will encounter rooms that will have arrive with Aureus Coins and could later be exchanged to for the Boons that will provide various paths.

You can also encounter a fountain room, which will heal your Resolve. Each fountain room will cost you 150 Aureus Coins and grant you the Major or Minor Boon in addition to healing you. And a Cursed Fountain, which will heal more Resolve but will also inflict the debuff on you. And a Radiant Fountain that will heal your Resolve, grant you a Minor Boon and will remove a random debuff known as Affliction.

An Affliction is a debuff that connectively impact your Sanctum progression or outright precure run and force you to restart.

poe 3.20 Sanctum run

Tip 1

Therefore, the first tip is that you should never pick an option that grants you a random Affliction. For example, an Accursed Prism. In a successful Sanctum run, you should have more Boons than Afflictions and most of your Afflictions should be non-determinable to your build.

Your run will begin by choosing the Relics that will aid you in completing your Sanctum in this stage. Picking your strategy via the right Relics is vital to your run. There are numerous viable strategies, such as stacking Inspiration when you gain an Affliction or stacking additional boots that the merchant can offer. However, a good and successful strategy should be a mix of everything. For example, I like to use Auspicious Coffee Relics Of Youth since they enable me to stack Resolve. In addition, I also use the Adaptable Papyrus Relic Of Empowerment, which gives me an extra Inspiration.

When I gain an Affliction to trade hits without taking any result damage directly, the remaining slots should be filled with additional merchant offers or additional revealed rooms. This strategy allows me to buff through the fountain notes to stand fully Resolve and efficiently utilize the Curse Facts that lower my Maximum Resolve but provide Boons in return.

Another viable strategy is to stack the chance to gain double Aureus Coins and have extra Aureus Coins at the beginning of your Sanctum run. In addition to extra puns offered by merchant, the idea behind the strategy is to always go for a merchant room and buy up her entire stock. So, she has to provide you with Boons in each encounter and a number of them is limited by stacking as many Boons as possible. You can increase the chances of getting better game-changing major pawns from the merchant.

Tip 2

After picking and confirming your Relics the Sanctum run will begin. The second tip is an essential one and many players choose to either disregard it or ignore it. The first 16 rooms or two floors should be used exclusively to acquire buffs. Skip any lucrative rewards, such as Chaos Orbs or Stacked Decks and path exclusively via treasure fountains merchant or accurate Spectrums. Avoid stacking Afflictions at the stage and if you have to go for non-game breaking. Once as you advance to higher floors, the rewards offered will ramp up. The value with the most lucrative currencies will being offered to you on the third and fourth floors.

Tip 3

The third tip is if you are offered a gamble currency as your reward, you should never pick any of the two deferred options. There are two Boons that can duplicate an additional or up to three additional rewards. Therefore, you should only go for Chaos Orbs, Stacked Decks, solid orbs, Divine Orbs and very rarely sacred orbs.

poe 3.20 Rediant Fountain

Tip 4

When you reach the third and fourth floors, if you do not see any Divine orders being offered to you, you should always pass through the Accurate Spectrums as you might still get it as a random hidden reward.

Tip 5

Finally, the last tip that I want to share with you is you should know the strengths and weaknesses of yourself and your bill. For example, incorporate extra sustaining the uralic strategy, if you are playing a build that has to trade hits. Likewise, if you are a player that can attract well under pressure, avoid an Affliction that gives all monsters an onslaught buff, which is third person attack cast and movement speed. If you tend to forget about volatile projectiles, do not pick an Affliction that will release them upon killed monsters.

The true beauty of this league mechanic is that it becomes what you make of it. There are many viable strategies that you can choose from. And the mechanicals force you to adapt as you progress farther into your Sanctum run. All of this combines to create a very unique experience that vastly differs from the base gameplay of Path of Exile.

By the way, if you want to run the Sanctum more easy, you can also choose to use Divines Orbs or Chaos Orbs to make good builds.

Path Of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0 Evasion Body Armor Crafting Guide | Best Bases, Mods & Costs
Path Of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0 Evasion Body Armor Crafting Guide | Best Bases, Mods & Costs

In Path of Exile 2, Evasion is a defensive stat that grants a chance to completely avoid physical attacks, making it crucial for characters who rely on this mechanic for survival. This is especially true for builds like Hollow Palm Monk and Lightning Arrow Deadeye, which typically maximize their defensive capabilities by stacking Evasion and Energy Shield.

Therefore, players using high-evasion builds can maximize their chances of dodging incoming attacks by crafting Pure Evasion Body Armor. Especially for new players, using Evasion Body Armor wisely can provide a more direct defense against one-shot attacks than stacking Energy Shield and Life.

So, how do you craft the best Evasion Body Armor in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0 to effectively boost your build's overall defense? This guide will provide the answers!

Step-By-Step Guide

What do we need to start crafting this armor?

Slipstrike Vest Base

First, we need Slipstrike Vest Base Body Armor. Note that it must be Slipstrike Vest, as this is the base with the highest evasion rating; it should be at least level 79, preferably 80, as this is the most common level available.

Next, we need a chest with the prefix Tier 1 Flat Evasion Rating or Tier 1 % Increased Evasion Rating. Please note that the prefix cannot be hybrid.

For the suffix, we need at least 30% resistance or a deflection rating of around 20%.

Once you have these bases, you need a Greater Essence of Ruin. This essence grants chaos resistance to our body armor, which upgrades it to a rare item.

Infusing Chaos Essence

But what if you already have armor with both evasion and chaos resistance? In this case, you can choose one of Fire, Cold, and Lightning Resistance Essences. It really doesn't matter which one you choose - it's entirely up to you.

Next, we'll crush Chaos Essences. This is because by the end, you can roll anything from Tier 5 to Tier 1. These are the only mandatory requirements, and this makes the crafting cost of this Evasion Body Armor lower overall compared to other materials.

So, we've infused four Chaos Essences into each piece of armor.

Adding Prefixes And Suffixes

So, what's next? We'll add Desecrated Suffixes. To do this, we need Omen of Dextral Necromancy and Preserved Rib. You can select Omen of Dextral Necromancy and then hit each piece of armor with Preserved Rib to ensure it gets the suffix.

However, you don't have to reveal this mod right away. In fact, we even recommend not doing so, as you'll most likely want to use Omen of Abyssal Echoes later to achieve this. However, not every piece of armor is worth it.

Now that our body armor has a complete set of suffixes, we need to add our prefixes. So, what do we do with our prefixes?

If you already have flat evasion, we'll look for the highest% increased Evasion Rating and a hybrid evasion.

You can slam both hybrids, as you have a chance to hit all three mods. However, if you lose, you'll have to repeat the previous steps. However, the crafting cost is really low, so it's worth a try.

Omen Of Homogenising Exaltation

Next, we take Omen of Homogenising Exaltation, which grants us the evasion modifier. We can combine it with Greater Exalted Orb to add the desired higher-level modifiers, which share tags with the existing modifiers on your item.

A quick explanation for why we used Greater Exalted Orb instead of Perfect Exalted Orb is that the difference between the two Exalted Orbs is only one tier, which isn't worth it. Don't waste your PoE 2 currency; it's better to start over.

Now, let's bash through all of them. If you don't hit anything good, I recommend recombining them or throwing them away, then getting new bases and repeating the process again.

Desecrated Modifiers

So far, we've managed to achieve a 2400 evasion rating, which is pretty good. But we still need to further optimize this body armor with Desecrated Modifiers in Well of Souls.

Desecrated Modifier system allows you to improve items without risking them being ruined, giving you a lot of autonomy in your crafting. We can take this armor to Well of Souls in Mastodon Badlands to reveal three modifier options.

Note that the three modifier options you receive are random, but are designed to provide useful upgrades for your character. Finally, choose the modifier that best suits your build and select Confirm to add it to your armor.

Cost

Finally, for budget, this Pure Evasion Body Armor costs approximately 5 PoE 2 Divine Orbs, as we only used Omen of Homogenizing Exaltation + Greater Exalted Orb, and Omen of Abyssal Echoes. Aside from the base, the rest is completely affordable, requiring only around 20-30 Exalted Orbs, depending on when you acquire them.

These are the complete steps and cost breakdown for crafting this Evasion Body Armor. Overall, Evasion Body Armor is crucial in PoE 2 because it grants a chance to completely dodge incoming attacks, which is very effective for defending against multiple smaller attacks and reducing critical hit chance. If you're struggling with incoming physical damage, prioritizing crafting this unique armor is an excellent strategy.

Path Of Exile 2 Interlude Boss Guide | How To Beat Isolde Of The White Shroud & Heldra Of The Black Pyre?
Path Of Exile 2 Interlude Boss Guide | How To Beat Isolde Of The White Shroud & Heldra Of The Black Pyre?

While Path of Exile 2 patch 0.3.0 only adds Act 4 campaign content, the developers, mindful of player complaints about the repetitive nature of the campaign experience from previous acts, have also introduced new mini-Acts, also known as Interludes, to balance the situation.

Currently, POE 2 has Interludes as a temporary transition between the campaign and the endgame, replacing the need to complete the campaign on Cruel difficulty. These Interludes include new areas, unique bosses, and storylines, providing new sources of POE 2 currency farming and adding depth to open-world exploration.

Here, we'll take a look at Recruit the Ezomytes Interlude quest, which opens after Act 4 in Path of Exile 2, and share how to tackle the final two-boss encounter in this questline Isolde of White Shroud and Heldra of the Black Pyre.

Starting The Battle

Interlude quest is played in no particular order; if this is your first time experiencing it, it'll take you back to Refuge in Ogham.

The first level you encounter here is Scorched Farmlands. Head along the map until you reach a checkpoint, where you must defeat two witches before you can advance.

Before you begin the battle, you'll notice a slight altercation between them, but they'll interrupt it and fight you first. This battle isn't easy, so we'll do our best to explain the attacks and what you need to do to win.

Boss Attacks

The first thing you need to make sure is that one witch deals fire damage and the other deals cold damage.

The first thing you need to do is defeat White Witch who deals cold damage, also known as Isolde of the White Shroud. This is because Isolde applies Cold debuff, which slows your movement speed and makes you vulnerable to attacks from both bosses.

Isolde Of The White Shroud

Now, let's look at Isolde's cold attacks.

Her basic attack occurs when she says, "Ice rends the earth!" Note that there are two versions of this attack if you're close to her, she throws cone-shaped ice shards; if you're far away, she uses her wolf's skull to hurl high-speed ice projectiles.

To dodge both attacks, you need to time your move perfectly. If these attacks hit you, you'll be slowed down. Even if these attacks aren't fatal, they can make you vulnerable to the other witch's more powerful attacks.

Next, let's look at her more powerful attacks. The first is when she says, "Frozen solid!" Several blue circles with runic symbols appear, and large ice spikes emerge from them. Be aware that she can combo twice, so be careful and dodge whenever you see circles appear.

Isolde's next powerful attack occurs when she summons Ice Tornado. A tornado explodes around her, creating several waves of icy spikes on the ground. You'll need to move away from her and avoid the icy spikes.

Her final attack occurs when she says, "Awaken!" Isolde will summon about six or seven wolves with her wolf's skull. At this point, it's important to use Frost Wall to contain them and prevent them from surrounding you.

Heldra Of The Black Pyre

Next, let's look at Fire Witch Heldra of the Black Pyre's attacks.

To attack Heldra, when you see several red circles appear on the ground, stop everything you're doing and move away from them, as they will explode and deal heavy area damage.

However, be aware that Heldra will often attack twice in a row, so you'll need to stay on the move until the attack is truly over.

Her second attack is quite bad. When she says "To Ashes," two walls of stone fangs appear, leaving you with only one exit. Heldra then summons fire from the other side of the wall, and if you're inside it, you're likely dead.

Her other attacks, like Incinerate or The Fire Feasts, aren't as scary as long as you dodge and keep moving.

Boss Battle Tips

Okay, now that we know all the attacks of both witches, let's look at how to survive the fight.

As we mentioned earlier, we can completely ignore Fire Witch here. Our strategy for attacking Ice Witch is to dance in a circle, attacking her at close range, then immediately backing away from her, then getting in close again, repeating this process. This way, we can dodge her attacks, continue attacking, and accumulate damage.

Another important reason for doing this is that if you notice, Isolde of the White Shroud rarely moves around; she stays in the same place, unlike Heldra, who jumps around all the time. This allows you to quickly defeat her, as long as you're constantly stacking damage.

Also, if you need some advice, try not to use your Mana Flask against White Witch, as you'll need it more when facing Fire Witch alone.

After defeating White Witch, you'll finally face Heldra one-on-one. The key to dealing with her attacks lies in dodging and surviving. Honestly, don't worry about stacking damage, as she's constantly moving and constantly casting spells that force you to dodge.

If you have damage-over-time attacks like bleeding, burning, or summoning minions, this fight might be easier, as the damage will stack over time. However, when she creates walls of stone fangs and red circles, her combos will make it difficult to sustain continuous attacks.

Aside from that, don't be afraid to use your flasks, especially life flasks. Be patient and pause when you need a breather. Victory is within reach.

In short, as long as you follow the tips to become adept at anticipating Isolde and Heldra's attacks and consistently deal boss damage, defeating them isn't difficult. But I still recommend that you buy cheap and safe POE 2 Currency at POECurrency.com before starting the boss battle to invest in your character's fire and cold resistance to help you easily deal with the boss's attacks during the battle!

Path Of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.1 Major Endgame Changes | Towers Removed, Map Size & Monster Density Updates
Path Of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.1 Major Endgame Changes | Towers Removed, Map Size & Monster Density Updates

Exiles, while we await Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.4.0, the developers have announced a major endgame update for the game next week: patch 0.3.1.

The developers have announced some significant changes in Path of Exile 2 patch 0.4.0, but before that, they'll need to iterate on some of the mechanics changes in the current patch before moving on to 0.4.0. Patch 0.3.1 serves as a crucial transitional step.

Alchemy Orbs Upgrade

The 0.3.1 update focuses almost entirely on endgame changes, with the sole exception of a change to Alchemy Orbs. Because of the new tiered core currency system introduced in Path of Exile 2's 0.3.0 patch, Alchemy Orbs are significantly less valuable than they once were. To maintain their usefulness, the developers now allow you to use Alchemy Orbs to upgrade Magic items to Rare items, but that's it.

Map Bosses

The coolest thing about this is that each map now contains a boss, each with varying difficulty levels. To complete an Atlas, you only need to defeat Map Boss, not any Rare monsters, and then you can explore the rest of Atlas as you please.

Also, to maintain the challenge of bosses, the icon that previously indicated the presence of a Map Boss now indicates the level and difficulty of Map Boss in that area. Of course, the rewards dropped by the boss will scale with its difficulty.

Removing Towers And Replacing Them With Tablets

They're also working on improving the basic mapping experience through other means, ensuring that each map contains at least one to three additional content, such as Breach, Ritual, Expedition, and so on. You can now add content directly to your map using Tablets.

This introduces another major change coming to PoE 2 in patch 0.3.1: Towers will no longer exist after the update.

That's right, next week Towers mechanic will be gone, replaced by Tablets. You simply plug them into your map device along with your Waystones, and use them to apply your desired content to your map.

This is essentially the return of Scarab system from Path of Exile 1 to PoE 2 in the form of Tablets, something many players have been looking for in the endgame, giving us greater control over the types of content we choose to play.

Thank you to the developers for finally implementing this feature in 0.3.1, rather than waiting until the 0.4.0 patch in December.

However, I still want to point out that Towers aren't completely gone, only their Tablets. Towers still exist in principle, and you can pick up Precursor Tablets from them to enhance your map, and use them to expand your vision so you can continue scouting Atlas.

They've also added a number of new modifiers to Tablets, making them more interesting. Since they're now our primary way to enhance maps, we can modify them on a map-by-map basis, rather than targeting multiple maps within a certain area.

Some of these modifiers are quite interesting, especially those for summoners, like Summoning Circle, which is key to summoning the map boss.

Furthermore, Exiled modifier is incredibly powerful, allowing you to mix and match an additional Rogue Exile with Abyss, hopefully earning even more Heart of the Well Diamonds. These unique jewels sell well on the market, helping you earn a ton of PoE 2 currency in a short amount of time!

Reducing The Size Of 15 Maps

Another major change: Mapping times were deemed too long, so they've reduced the size of Path of Exile 2's 15 largest maps. Here's a list of them:

  • Augury
  • Bastille
  • Blooming Field
  • Channel
  • Epitaph
  • Fortress
  • Grimhaven
  • Hidden Grotto
  • Oasis
  • Penitentiary
  • Rupture
  • Savannah
  • Slick
  • Vaal City
  • Wetlands
  • Monster Density Adjustments

At the same time, they've also adjusted the monster density within the maps. Since monster swarms in Tier 1 maps are now over 40% larger than in the previous Interludes, if your build isn't designed to handle large swarms, you might wind up getting overwhelmed by them.

Being overwhelmed by monsters was a common complaint among players during the endgame. To address this, the developers have decided to reduce the number of monsters at the start of the endgame by 30%, with the number scaling based on the map's level.

As you level up, the number of monsters increases, reaching the same level as before at Tier 15. This increases the difficulty variance between map tiers, but also allows you to find the best location for your PoE 2 currency farming needs at each stage.

Increased Citadel Spawn Rate

It's important to note that this update increases the spawn rate of Citadels by 66%. This is because many players in Rise of the Abyssal League have been complaining about their inability to encounter Citadels. Some players have even reached level 94 before encountering a group of Citadels. This issue with the random number generator (RNG) has caused widespread community outcry.

While this update makes Citadel encounters more predictable, honestly, it might not be enough.

Finally, it's important to note that these aren't all the changes coming in next week's patch 0.3.1; more changes are coming soon. Overall, exiles, I'm very excited to see this patch arrive, and I think many of the changes within it will push Path of Exile 2 in a positive direction.

In any case, ideally, the successful release of patch 0.3.1 will also bring 0.4.0 one step closer! If you're looking to boost your in-game prowess after this update, head over to POECurrency.com to buy POE currency at a fraction of the price and dominate Wraeclast today!
