The only cost is gold. After setting up your orders, you can continue mapping while the orders remain active. Pinnacle Boss Farming

Beyond mapping, make good use of idle items and Gold sitting in your stash, as they can all be converted into additional currency.

With Path of Exile 2 entering Patch 0.5, the build ecosystem has undergone significant changes. Numerous new mechanics, equipment, and adjustments to progression systems have prompted players to re-explore the meta, and Jewels system has gradually become a focal point of discussion.

However, if a Passive Skill Point only provides a few percentage points of improvement, while a jewel slot offers a huge benefit, then abandoning the jewel path is what needs explanation.

Therefore, the problem is not that players are deliberately chasing Jewel stacking. When one progression path provides such a significant advantage over others, players will inevitably gravitate toward the strongest option.

5-Mod Jewel

If Patch 0.5 only focused on stronger jewel attributes, its impact would be limited. What truly elevates jewels to their current status is 5-mod jewels.

In the past, crafting a good jewel required a significant amount of time and luck. You might have a few decent attributes, but you were still far from perfect. This process, while painful, maintained the value of gear crafting.

But 5-mod jewels are different. Players can use this mechanism to add extra affixes, then fix some excellent attributes using the current crafting method, and adjust the remaining ones.

The problem with this mechanism is that after the extra affixes are removed, PoE 2 still retains the expanded affix space limitation. Players can use the random reforging mechanism of PoE 2 Chaos Orbs to repeatedly adjust the remaining affixes while retaining three ideal affixes.

Some builds prioritize damage, some defense, and some might focus on enhancing a specific mechanic. Different PoE 2 characters have different priorities.

But with Zahroqs Gift, this choice became simpler. Extra jewelry slots are available for almost all characters; you dont need to research your own build or consider complex combinations. As long as you have sufficiently strong jewelry, this choice usually yields benefits.

This is where it most significantly affects the gameplay experience. A powerful skill or piece of equipment might only change a playstyle. But an enhancement that every character chooses changes the entire games build logic.

What Players Lose?

Many might think that high-level players, pursuing maximum damage, should naturally choose the strongest path, which is fine.

Thats true.

However, the fun of Path of Exile 2 has never been just about hitting the highest numbers. Many players enjoy the game because building a character is inherently valuable.

However, increasingly, when players encounter Passive Tree, their first reaction becomes: Are there any jewelrys here? Can I add another jewelry? Is there a way to obtain more jewelry?

When one option outweighs many others, the games creative space naturally decreases.

Solutions

I dont think simply nerfing jewelry in the upcoming Patch 0.5.5 will solve the problem. Jewels themselves should remain strong because they do provide a lot of build flexibility.

More needed and timely adjustments are an option to make jewelry a viable option for PoE 2 builds again.

Zahroqs Gift is the part that most needs reconsidering. Its problem isnt that the value is too high, but that it makes extra jewelry slots the default answer for the vast majority of characters.

The crafting method for 5-mod jewelry also needs to be changed. If players can consistently craft near-perfect jewelry, then other equipment and passive skill choices will find it difficult to compete.

The problem with PoE 2 isnt that jewels are too powerful; rather, as more and more builds need to revolve around the same system, players are truly losing their choices. If in the future, opening Passive Skill Tree for different characters reveals similar jewel paths, then no matter how high the jewel numbers are, the game will lose some of its creative fun.

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 may continue for around half a year until the official 1.0 release is announced. This will be an extremely long waiting period.

However, the good news is that the official team has not completely abandoned Runes of Aldur League during these several months. PoE 2 Patch 0.5.5 will be a major update, although it will most likely not reach the scale of a new league.

Confirmed Update Content

Independent Economy Event

At the end of Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.4 preview video, the official team clearly confirmed that Patch 0.5.5 will be the final major patch before version 1.0. It will launch alongside a one-month event league featuring a completely new economy system.

This independent league will operate separately from the current Runes of Aldur League, and PoE2 currency from the existing league cannot be used in this event. Characters created in the current league will not be affected and players can continue playing them normally.

This event league may also include exclusive content that will not appear in Runes of Aldur League. Its structure could be somewhat similar to PoE 1's Legacy of Phrecia League, although the official team has not revealed any major details about the event yet.

Large-Scale Balance Adjustments

The official team has also confirmed that the core focus of Patch 0.5.5 will be a complete balance overhaul, which will account for around two-thirds of the development workload.

A large number of skill values and mechanics will be adjusted, and new skills and Unique items may also be introduced. Atlas Passive Tree will also receive redesigns and improvements.

Chaos Damage system and Ignite-related Damage Over Time effects will receive significant buffs, especially benefiting Acolyte of Chayula Ascendancy.

Beyond numerical adjustments, the development team will also improve skill responsiveness, animations, and sound effects to ensure that combo-based gameplay feels more impactful and rewarding. They hope players will feel that skill usage is smoother and provides a stronger sense of reward.

Potential Content That May Be Added

During interviews, the development team mentioned that there are many features they hope to add before version 1.0. Some of them may be introduced or tested in Patch 0.5.5.

Act 4 Improvements

The development team acknowledged that Act 4 has received fewer changes in the past, partly because there was not enough player feedback. As more players replay this chapter, they expect to gather clearer information about its shortcomings and plan to make targeted improvements in future patches.

New Ascendancy Classes

The development team previously mentioned plans to unlock all Ascendancy classes for existing characters. During the 0.5.5 patch period, the third Ascendancy for Ranger or the third Ascendancy for Druid could potentially be introduced first.

This possibility comes from comments made by the official team in interviews before the launch of Runes of Aldur League, so there is a certain chance that it could happen.

As for releasing an entirely new class such as Marauder, the possibility appears lower. The official team has stated that even the 1.0 release may not include all 12 classes, as completing the campaign and endgame experience remains the higher priority.

Legacy League

Jonathan mentioned that they may draw inspiration from Path of Exile 1's Legacy of Phrecia League by combining and remixing older or abandoned concepts into special entertainment content for a league.

This type of content requires a shorter development cycle and is mainly intended to encourage players to test character builds again under a new balance environment, rather than becoming a permanent core mechanic.

Release Date Prediction

If Patch 0.5.5 is treated as a new league, its release timing may be close to the usual league schedule.

PoE 2 Patch 0.5.0 was released on May 29, which can be considered part of the June timeline. Therefore, if Patch 0.5.5 includes a large amount of new content, players may need to wait at least three months before its arrival.

Gamescom

It is worth noting that Gamescom will take place from August 26 to August 30 this year, and the official team has already confirmed attendance. They usually use the event to showcase and test upcoming content in advance. For example, Druid was already revealed during Gamescom 2023.

Patch 0.5.5 will most likely receive its official announcement during the event, and the official team may use the platform to build anticipation or reveal the release date. The earliest possible release window could be from early to mid-September 2026.

ExileCon

If the official team plans to announce version 1.0 at ExileCon in November and release 1.0 in December, Patch 0.5.5 could potentially arrive around October so that the event league can conclude around the time of ExileCon. While PoE 2 Patch 0.5.5 won't introduce a new endgame mechanic, the numerous balance adjustments and new independent leagues will significantly impact the economy of Runes of Aldur League.
