If you new, you might haven't heard about it yet somehow, POE is an actually free-to-play dungeon crawler in the same vein as Diablo II: extensive skill paths and all. Grinding Gear Games has done what very few penny-pinching, game-impacting microtransaction-filled, gacha-ridden free-to-play games have to date with its monetization system, as every bit of actual content, including huge expansions (which they've had many of) is free.
If you are experienced players, you must have known another one on the way too, titled Legion, set for a June 7 launch. The name is quite literal, as you'll tangle with military leaders and elite enemies for more rewards, alongside of several overhauled mechanics. Monoliths will allow you to optionally battle stronger enemies (a concept POE executes successfully to allow for better more challenging loot acquisition), Legion Jewels mix up the skill tree, and most importantly, melee combat has been reworked from the ground up for a faster experience.
According to Grinding Gear Games, "movement skills are now all instant," and melee attacks splash to nearby enemies. The animation system has developed and accuracy is "no longer capped at 95%." To account for this the studio has rebalanced the entire early game. If you want to know more about updates and POE currency, it's available to contact us.

View MoreAs a renowned ARPG, POE series has always been known for its complex mechanics and challenging gameplay. Furthermore, both Path of Exile 1 and Path of Exile 2 have consistently added new content with major updates, raising the bar for entry.
Take Path of Exile 2 as an example. Patch 0.3.0, The Third Edict, released on August 29th, not only introduced new leagues but also added new actions and more combat-related systems, such as Lineage Supports.
So what exactly is this system and how does it work? This article will explain it to avoid unnecessary confusion during combat.
To equip and enhance your character in Path of Exile 2, the gem system is crucial. This system includes skill gems and support gems, which increase your damage or defense in different ways.
With the release of The Third Edict, a new type of support gem system was added, called Lineage Supports. Lineage Support gems are unique support gems that can only be obtained by dropping from enemies.
Lineage Support gems differ from regular support gems in that each one possesses unique modifiers not found in regular gems, making them more valuable and more versatile.
In the past, after completing your basic character or build, further character enhancement typically involved consuming POE 2 Divine Orbs to re-roll the values of all random explicit modifiers on your gear. Now, support gems can provide similar benefits.
However, it's important to note that not all Lineage Support gem modifiers are beneficial. Because some gems provide overpowered buffs, they may have negative effects to ensure a balanced gameplay experience.
For this reason, these gems aren't necessarily suitable for all Path of Exile 2 combat scenarios. However, rarer Lineage Support gems are often more sought after on the market.
Regular support gems are obtained by farming bosses or completing quests to obtain uncut support gems, which are then engraved to obtain specific gems. However, Lineage Supports aren't suitable for this method. They can be obtained through:
Generally speaking, the rarer Lineage Supports, the lower their drop rate and the longer they require to farm. If you urgently need a specific gem for some reason, it's more convenient to visit the Market.
Abyssal content is essentially a series of quests or challenges based on Rise of the Abyssal League. In addition to Lineage Support Gems, they can also provide other valuable drops.
Abyssal Pits appear in-game as large chasms in the ground, extending outward from them. They infect nearby monsters and cause them to glow green, making them easy to spot. On the mini-map, Abyssal Pits appear as green spheres connected by dotted lines.
To close an Abyssal Pits and claim their loot, you must defeat nearby monsters. When a certain number of enemies are killed, a chime sounds and a final wave of monsters is summoned from Abyssal Pits.
Once the final enemy is eliminated, Abyssal Pits close and an Abyssal Trove or Arsenal appears, providing loot. If you have multiple Abyssal Pits nearby, the rewards will only appear after you close all of them.
Sometimes, closing an Abyssal Pits may reveal Abyssal Depths instead of rewards. These are actually sub-areas containing more dangerous monsters guarding treasure chests. Only by defeating these enemies can you obtain Lineage Support Gems or other items.
After completing the battle in Abyssal Depths, you can use the portal to travel to other locations. However, if you die in this area, the dungeon will close and you will respawn at the nearest checkpoint on the main map.
If you close Abyssal Pits during the endgame, the new area that appears will no longer be Abyssal Depths, but Dark Domains, which will take you to Abyssal Cities to defeat the rare boss, Abyssal Commanders.
What makes this boss special is that in addition to the normal rewards, it will also drop the special item Kulemak's Invitation, exclusive to Witch class. If you choose Lich Ascendancy class, this item allows you to enter Well of Souls to unlock Abyssal Lich.
Although the only Abyssal content that drops Lineage Supports is Abyssal Depths, you must clear Abyssal Pits to have a chance to unlock it. Furthermore, the value of Dark Domains is well worth the effort.
The above is what we introduced to you this time. I hope it will help you get more Lineage Support gems to enhance your character. Have fun!
Path of Exile 2's crafting system received a major overhaul in Patch 0.3.0, introducing Essences of varying levels and new crafting orbs, while also providing players with more precise crafting options.
But the most noteworthy new change is the addition of Well of Souls in The Third Edict, a new crafting system designed to allow players to add additional affixes to their equipment through Desecration and more control over the outcome of crafting, giving them greater autonomy in the endgame. Here, we'll discuss how to unlock and use Well of Souls.
With the release of POE 2 Patch 0.3.0, you may frequently encounter green fissures on the ground, which spawn various ghostly monsters and enemies. Defeat these monsters to close the fissures and obtain an Abyssal Trove filled with a large amount of POE 2 currency and high-level loot.
Notably, from these troves, you can also obtain Gnawed Jawbone, also known as Abyssal Bones to players, which is key to desecrating and upgrading your gear in Well of Souls.
Aside from this, one of the best ways to obtain these desecrated items is by completing Abyssal Depths - special caves where you can plunge into and fight Abyssal enemies and rare creatures with bonus stats.
Ultimately, defeating these can also yield chest drops or Abyssal Troves at the end of the area, which, when opened, also have a chance to obtain the aforementioned items. However, these troves are guarded by some very challenging enemies.
While there are other opportunities to obtain these Gnawed Jawbones in the endgame, these are the primary ways to obtain them during your quest for Well of Souls.
So, how do you find Well of Souls in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0?
To do this, you'll need to complete Act 1 and advance through Act 2 until you reach the section where you need to rebuild Horn of the Vastiri.
Next, we need to head to Mastodon Badlands area and find the exit to the new Lightless Passage. This is a new area, so veteran players might miss it, but it's actually quite easy to find if you check the map.
Entering Lightless Passage and traversing the level, you'll find the same monsters and creatures you'd find in Abyssal Fissures. Be prepared, as this is just a small preview of what's to come.
When you reach an area with a crater, a green aura of energy will erupt from it. You'll need to defeat waves of enemies that spawn from this particular crater and find a rare monster called Sinflay at the end.
This is a terrifying, tentacle-covered monster with a wide attack range, making it easy to kill with a single blow. Therefore, it's recommended to invest some PoE 2 currency in armor with excellent defensive stats to improve your survivability. Finally, defeating Sinflay and completing the game will lead you to the exit of Well of Souls.
After entering Well of Souls, activate the waypoint. On the left, you'll find the stash and Lurking Creature NPC. The stash is there because you'll be returning to it frequently during Rise of the Abyssal League.
Talking with Lurking Creature, you'll discover it speaks an unfamiliar language. Don't worry, click Continue, and The Hooded One will appear. He'll explain that these Abyssal monsters were born from Well of Souls, but most importantly, he'll teach you how to understand their language.
Last but not least, he'll reveal that these creatures are servants of a dark god named Kulemak.
The Hooded One will then leave, allowing you to continue your conversation with Lurking Creature. I recommend not skipping this conversation on your first playthrough, as it's crucial for understanding Well of Souls, Abyssal monsters, and their masters.
After speaking with Lurking Creature, head to the edge of Abyssal and interact with Well of Souls. This will open a container where you can place an item with Unrevealed Desecrated modifier.
Remember Gnawed Jawbones we told you about finding by fighting monsters spawned in Abyssal fissures? This is where these Abyssal Bones come in handy.
Here's a great example. Let's say we have a Gnawed Jawbone that can desecrate a rare weapon or quiver.
To desecrate these items, simply follow the instructions: right-click the bone and apply it to the rare item indicated by the bone. Once completed, you'll notice a green matrix symbol at the end of the modifier list, indicating that you need to take the item to Well of Souls to reveal Desecrated Modifier.
Interact with Well of Souls again, place the item inside, and click Reveal button. Once completed, three new modifiers will appear, and you can only choose one, so choose the one that best suits your build to further customize your gear. For example, for a spellcaster build, a modifier that increases spell damage is always the best choice.
After selecting a modifier, you'll see a really cool cutscene where you essentially drop the rare item into the well, and a Lurking Creature NPC dives in to pick it up and retrieve it for you. This animation is awesome! So, now you understand why using Well of Souls is worth it!
Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0 is only just beginning, but once you reach the endgame, you'll be able to use the same mechanics on Waystone, meaning you can more easily farm Abyssal items and dominate the entire underground area.
In Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0, the developers added a host of new class-specific unique items. However, it's a common understanding after the update: these powerful new unique items are often very expensive, often out of reach. If you aim for these pricey items to complete your build, you'll likely end up emptying your wallet quickly.
So, is it possible to create a powerful, Uber-boss-killing build using these affordable class-specific items? Let's find out.
Let's turn our attention to The Last Lament Desolate Crossbow in Path of Exile 2 whose unique mechanics encourage active, high-risk play.
The Desolate Crossbow boasts high physical damage, a life leech modifier, a chance to reload upon killing an enemy, and a unique ability - sacrificing 300 health points to avoid expending the last bolt. This means we can keep attacking as long as our health regenerates quickly enough, a key mechanic that often gives us a chance to turn the tide in the endgame.
In Patch 0.3.0, The Last Lament Desolate Crossbow didn't receive any specific changes, but both its crossbow archetype and Ranger class received significant buffs.
With its powerful perk, Compose Requiem, which transforms souls trapped within the crossbow into weapons, and the ability to gain unlimited arrows by sacrificing life, it's an excellent choice for a final unique item, dealing devastating damage to enemies.
So, how do we choose Ascendancy class? Our top choice for Ascendancy class is Lich. Its passive ability prevents health from depleting while we have an energy shield, meaning we have more opportunities for uninterrupted fire. However, this build requires a rather high PoE 2 currency budget.
That's not a problem, though. We have another affordable option: Warrior Ascendancy. The basics are simple: Warrior significantly increases our attack range, life, and health regeneration. Combined with the life leech on kills, we can effectively avoid health loss.
But we ultimately chose Titan Ascendancy because it allows for easy area clearing and boss kills using the crossbow skill. Desolate Crossbow combined with Titan grants a slow, powerful attack with echo damage and increased damage to stunned enemies.
For skills, we use Explosive Shot, Explosive Grenade, Rapid Shot, Solar Orb, and Spirit skills including Wind Dancer, Cast on Ignite, and Blink.
Let me explain each one. Explosive Shot is our primary map-clearing skill, and combined with the powerful impact of Titan Ascendancy, it keeps monsters at bay.
Explosive Grenade, Rapid Shot, and Solar Orb are all boss-fight skills, so we should bind them to our secondary weapons.
It's worth noting that Rapid Shot has a modifier: Grenades gain 6% of damage as extra Fire Damage per Heat. During boss fights, we want to maximize this effect to ensure the four Explosive Grenades we'll be using benefit from it.
For our secondary weapon, we should choose a crossbow that adds an extra grenade, has high-level projectiles, and deals high elemental damage.
Next, we evaluated the character's full equipment set and calculated that the approximate cost of completing it should be close to 30 PoE 2 Divine Orbs. The equipment we need is as follows:
Aside from this, for the remaining gear, the key stats we're looking for are maximum life resistance, high damage, additional Spirit, and movement speed.
Keep in mind that these unique items aren't fixed. For example, we can't equip Astraamentis with Morior Invictus or The Coming Calamity simultaneously because we won't have enough mana to use the skills. Therefore, we need to make some trade-offs when choosing items.
Finally, in terms of the skill tree, we should choose Titan Ascendancy's Crushing Impacts, Hulking Form, and Mysterious Lineage. Combined with Explosive Shot, we can prevent monsters from approaching us to improve our survivability. Hulking Form increases our health, while Mysterious Lineage enhances our secondary talents.
In terms of skill allocation, there are two main setups. The first setup should maximize attack range for map clearing, while the second configuration focuses on boss fights.
Let's focus on the first map clearing setup. First, we need to allocate more points to Stars Aligned talent. To fully utilize Stars Aligned, we should pair it with the From Nothing talent, which includes Unwavering Stance.
Next, allocate points to all talents that provide AoE effects. Finally, we should choose Resolute Technique to ensure we can deal sufficient damage with Blood Magic.
In summary, while this build's DPS and EHP aren't exceptional, don't worry; it's more than capable of surviving bosses. Furthermore, as long as there are enough monsters, it regenerates infinitely.
This build performs adequately in both level clearing and boss fights. It can kill with one hit, but it's prone to death if its life leech is insufficient. While there's limited room for improvement, this also makes the build relatively inexpensive to complete. Therefore, it's a suitable build for casual players to try out in the early stages of a league, offering a low level of control.
It's no secret that Path of Exile 2's microtransactions adhere to the original game's design principles, providing players with the convenience of cosmetic items and more stash tabs.
With the exception of stash tabs, which are considered essential for serious inventory management, most other microtransactions are purely cosmetic and provide no gameplay advantage, contributing to their widespread acceptance.
Now that we have mentioned the micro-transaction function in POE 2, we have to mention Mystery Box. This is the game's official loot box, a consumable microtransaction. Players receive a random cosmetic item of at least equal value upon opening the box. As mentioned previously, these items are purely cosmetic and have no impact on character power or progression.
The key feature of these Mystery Boxes is that you'll never receive a duplicate of a microtransaction you already own, meaning each time you open a box, you increase your chances of receiving a new, unowned item.
The items provided by Mystery Boxes are often later sold in the microtransaction store, so this has gradually evolved into a significant form of investment. Because some items can increase or decrease in value over time, a well-invested item can earn you a significant amount of PoE 2 currency in the future.
Path of Exile 2's The Third Edict Mystery Box also contains a number of tradeable microtransactions, most of which come in multiple variations, with a wide variety of themes and designs. You have an equal chance of unlocking each microtransaction from these loot boxes, but some variations may be rarer than others.
The 56 items (including their variants) you can find in this Mystery Box, along with their corresponding chances, are as follows:
Different skins and accessories have different styles. Embrace your wild side with Fractured Dreamer or Fractured Nightmare Armor Sets! Combined with all these helmets, wands, staves, sceptres, spears, bucklers, and foci skins, you'll look and feel scarier than Trickster himself.
For those looking to embody a monster, or simply prefer a more tribal vibe, check out Goblin Shaman and Goblin Witchdoctor Armor Sets. Each set comes with an exclusive back accessory and matching weapon skin!
Goblin Shaman skin replaces your character's default skin with one resembling that of a kin. This marks the first microtransaction to completely replace your character's base model, giving you the appearance of an entirely different species.
Also, for those who prefer mounts, there's Fractured Rhoa Mount and Karui Rhoa Mount. Parking your mount next to the matching Well Hideout Decorations will also refill your flask.
Mystery Box in POE 2 patch 0.3.0 can be obtained from the in-game store for 50 points. Access the store by clicking the Microtransaction Shop button on the player HUD.
Once you've obtained these loot boxes, you'll find them in the Consumable section of your in-game microtransaction stash, waiting to be opened. Please note that the results of opening these Mystery Boxes are completely random, and some items are rarer than others. However, you're guaranteed to receive an item worth at least as much as you paid, and historically, you're more likely to receive items of higher value.
It's worth noting that if you're aiming for a specific microtransaction type, the chances are approximately 1 in 25. However, the chances of receiving themed microtransactions vary, as detailed above.
Please note that these odds only apply to the first box you open. Since there are no duplicates, each subsequent box you open increases your chances of receiving other microtransactions.
In short, as we've mentioned before, these Mystery Box microtransactions don't provide any in-game advantages, so not every player needs them. But if you want to personalize your character with unique armor skins, weapon visuals, and more, for extensive character and hideout customization, then acquiring them is indeed the easiest way to go.
