Spectral Shield Throw Raider Build Guide - Path Of Exile 3.21 Crucible

May 04, 2023

Today I’m going back and continuing to share with you a special build from Path Of Exile, Spectral Shield Throw Raider. This build is very popular in this league, as Crucible will interact with Emperor’s Vigilance Shield.

Now, to play this build, you need 4 mandatory items, so you can start playing. The first one is Ashes of The Stars. This Amulet costs about 27-28 Divine Orbs depending on the roll, and you need Vengeant Cascade as your Anoint.

The second item is Phantasmal Spectral Shield Throw, which is about 4-5 Divine Orbs. You want Phantasmal, for the crit multiplier per 100 ES on your shield, and Ashes, depending on your roll. So I get 49x crit per 100 ES.

Next, Seething Fury can also explode the crit rate and the crit multiplier on the shield.

Finally, of course, Emperor’s Vigilance Shield. Now this shield has a very interesting interaction with Crucible. So the baseline for this shield has about 350-390 ES depending on the roll. But it has unique modifiers that increase Armor and Energy Shield by 1000%. With Crucible we can get the base Energy Shield so it will increase by 1000%. So you can get a high Energy Shield.

This one has 500 ES, which is about 100 Chaos Orbs and 1 Divine Orbs. My current shield has 700 ES, about 10 Chaos Orbs, which is pretty good. You can do a lot of content, you can have a decent build of a shield like this one, but with better shields you have more damage.

These shields can reach up to 1000 ES, but it will take a lot of POE Currency to complete the final optimization of the shield. If you have 1000 ES on your shield, you get 1200 crit, and that’s when the damage starts to get a little crazy. But you don’t really need to have this shield to be good. So I play this build on Raider and you can play it in different classes like Champion, Trickster and Deadeye.

In the case of Raider, we have easy access to Suppression, Ailment Avoidance, Exposure as well as extra Frenzy Charge, and each Frenzy has some nice stats like Evasion, Attack Speed and Attack Damage. All of our Evasions transform into armor with Iron Reflexes.

Then you can also convert 100% of physical damage to cold damage, so we get 40% damage from Cold Mastery. There is also 50% on gloves and 20% on Eldritch Implicits. You can also get taller, you need Orbs of Conflict to convert 30% of physical damage to cold damage.

Of course there are other ways to get conversions, you can also get it on Watcher’s Eye with Hatred Conversion mod, you can also get it on your Crucible Passive Skill Tree. For example, I’ve converted physical damage to lightning, but you can also convert it to cold. You can even get up at 25%. Here’s another option.

My body armor has attack crit. You also probably want to generate Power Charges somehow. What I did was use Herald of Ice to generate crit and increase the crit. But Herald of Ice can’t crit by itself, if you want it to crit you need to chain it to the increased crit.

With Diamond Flask, I have about 10% Herald of Ice crit chance, and you don’t need Diamond Flask. You can use Bottled Faith, which does more damage. But I don’t like Bottled Faith very much, so I chose Diamond Flask which has a high attack speed.

Another way to gain energy is through body armor. Instead of adding the effect of Auras, you will gain energy when you hit it, which is easier. Because we’re running so many Offensive Auras, Herald of Ice, Herald of Purity, Hatred, Precision.

But getting Strength and Intelligence can be a bit of a stretch in this build. For Strength, what you can do is use Lethal Pride so that all the minor nodes give Strength and you also get double damage and intimidation. For Intelligence, you’ll probably need to make an Intelligence check on one of your rings, and you can also get it on your sword or shield’s Crucible Passive Skill Tree.

This is how Spectral Shield Throw Raider build needs to prepare items, as well as upgrade the build. Hope this guide helps you in your build upgrade process and gets you off to a better start in the game.
