How To Build A Detonate Dead Necromancer That Can Easily Clear 30 Waves In POE 3.23 Simulacrum?

Jan 31, 2024

If you can complete all 30 waves, Simulacrum is very profitable in Affliction league. You can shut down your brain with a build while playing and farming really difficult content. In this guide, I’m going to talk about a powerful build that can easily clear all 30 waves on easy mode, Detonate Dead Necromancer.

The Skill Itself

Our skill of choice is Detonate Dead. When you target a corpse, this causes the corpse to explode, dealing fire damage proportional to the corpse’s health.

Therefore, we will use a very high-life Specter in the corpse pool. We can use any life to increase Specter by 360%.

Specter

The easiest way to get a Specter to have this much life is to go to Act 10 rooftop and start spamming Desecrate until you find a Kitava’s Herald.

Hold “A”, this will bring up the corpse health bar and search for Kitava’s Herald and use the level 1 Raise Specter, then remove the gem as the game will remember Specter you saved in the pool.

Every time you cast Desecrate, there's about a 15% chance of containing your Kitava's Herald with a very high life. That’s why we need high life corpse. The greater the base damage, the greater Ignite.

How We Scale The Damage?

Kitava’s Herald has approximately 115k lives. Because of how Detonate Dead works, 8% of health will be dealt as fire damage, which is really huge base damage.

We can also use charms to increase Specter’s life, so we have about 65% extra life. So Kitava’s Herald life will be 189k, which is really high base damage.

To increase this damage even further, we’ll be using Blackflame Unique Ring, which makes Ignite deal Chaos damage instead of Fire damage, and also comes with a really nice mod.

And Wither doesn’t expire on enemies. Therefore, we can easily use Withering Step to stack 15 stacks of Wither on the enemy, which is a huge damage boost for us.

Two Button Build

Typically, this build is a multi-button build where you have cast Desecrate, then Detonate Dead. But not with this setting that the build has.

If your POE Currency budget is enough, you can also use Corpsewalker Carnal Boots. This way you only have to press a button to deal with damage. When you walk into a group of enemies, your boots will spawn corpses, and you can press Detonate Dead and move on.

Scaling The Damage Even More

For maximum damage, we use Quartz Flask for phasing to walk through enemies. This is very important in Simulacrum because, if you get stuck in the wrong spot, you can die.

We also use a very good Incandescent Heart, a Body Armor with good rally stats.

First off, we get elemental damage as additional chaos damage, which is a really huge damage increase for this build. It also has a very good defensive component where we treat elemental damage as chaos damage. Because we use Chaos Inoculation, this gives us immunity to Chaos damage, which is free damage reduction for the build.

Defensives

In order to survive all 30 waves, you have to be very tanky. We do a few things to achieve this level of tanking.

On the defensive side, we use Aegis Aurora Champion Kite Shield, which gives us a ton of good stats. Restores an energy shield equal to 2% of your armor when blocking. If the build is unbuffed with more than 20k armor, when we block a hit we will restore 400 energy shield.

In Simulacrum, a lot of hits happen in one second, so we need to hit the 75% cap on blocked attacks and spells. Normally, when you block a hit, you don’t take any damage.

Since it’s hard to limit blocking opportunities in any build. Therefore, we will use Keystone Glancing Blows to double the block chance for us taking 65% of the damage blocked.

Items

Target your weapon damage over time, multiple minions will deal more damage, and deal a lot of fire damage. So let’s take a look at using some unique items in this build.

  • Weapon: Rune Ram
  • Helmets: Viridi’s Veil
  • Shield: Aegis Aurora
  • Amulet: Pandemonium Torc
  • Body Armor: Incandescent Heart
  • Rings: Blackflame & Elreon’s Moonstone Ring
  • Gloves: Grim Palm
  • Belt: Oblivion Thread
  • Boots: Corpsewalker

Passive Tree

Finally, let’s look at some things this build requires on a passive tree.

  • Passive Cluster Jewels: Sadist and Prismatic Heart
  • Medium Cluster Jewels: Burning Bright and Wasting Affliction
  • Small Cluster Jewels: Self-Control and Uncompromising

These Charms I use now: Mana as an extra energy shield, and the corpses you spawn increase the max life. The other two are Strength and Intelligence, and the corpse you generate also increases the maximum life. The reason we use two property charms is that it is difficult to override the properties of this build.
