A Complete Guide To Craft Vaal Ice Shot Deadeye Build In POE 3.22

Oct 11, 2023

The build we are sharing today is Ranger class and the highly damaging Vaal Ice Shot Deadeye. Ice Shot is a great Archer skill that freezes the entire screen of enemies and causes many explosions.

Bow builds have always been popular throughout Path of Exile’s history. The gameplay style of running at high speed and removing mobs from the screen has attracted many players.

Ice Shot embodies this play style very well, allowing you to simply run, shoot, and loot by hitting enemies hard from a distance. If that’s what you’re here for, you’re probably in the right place!

Traditional Ice Shot has always struggled a bit with single targets. To solve this problem, we chose to invest more POE Currency and run an auxiliary Ice Shot related to Ballista Totem Support. This helps us deal damage to any medium tanks during mapping and is a great addition along with our single target gem swap.

POE 3.22: A Complete Guide To Craft Vaal Ice Shot Deadeye Build

In this guide, we’re going to use as many POE items as possible early in the league to keep gearing as simple as possible. While it won’t defeat every attack in the game, it won’t give you a tremendous advantage against these Uber bosses. However, it offers a very comfortable style of map play and should be easy to find success with.

Pros

Here we start by talking about the advantages of this build. First, it has very good clear speed and movement speed, making it definitely a good choice for your starting build in the league.

Next, the fairly straightforward forward gear progression and ranged play style provide a lot of safety. This means we can avoid accidental death from damage during combat.

Finally, it’s Herald of Ice deals with extra cold damage and causes frozen enemies you crush to explode, dealing cold damage to an area.

Cons

Now list the cons of this build. Ranged bow builds are not super tanks and require some positioning and manual dodging abilities. Therefore, this is more fragile than most builds. This means you are likely to be killed in one hit. So it’s important to use ranged attacks and stay out of danger.

Also, it requires some powerful unique items, such as Hyrri's Ire, and a decent Triple-Element Rare Bow to be most effective. But these bows can be expensive to make. If you want to complete the entire build, you’ll need to invest in at least 4 Divine Orbs.

Gameplay

The play style of this build is very simple. We run across the map and fire Ice Shot. Our Mirage Archer Support helps us keep firing Ice Shots while running. Returning Projectiles Support will make these arrows return to us, hitting everything twice.

If we encounter anything particularly tanky, we can drop Ballista Totem, click on Berserk, disengage and unload. After a second or two of Ice Shot flying everywhere, we start looting and then continue running around with Ice Shot flying everywhere.

Deadeye Ascendancy Passive

Deadeye is perfect for this style of play. Bow builds can kill stuff from a distance, and Deadeye’s Ascendancy passive provides exactly all of those things.

Far Shot gives us up to 60% long-range damage. It prevents projectile barrages from spreading and has a long range modifier. This causes the projectile attack to do more damage the further it travels.

Endless Munitions gives us +2 projectiles. This improves our clearing capabilities and also becomes a huge single target boost with Barrage Support.

Gathering Winds provides permanent Tailwind to the player and nearby allies. Using any skill will grant you a Gale Force. This is a temporary stackable buff that increases Tailwind’s effect by 15% per stack. While this may seem mundane compared to the first two modifiers, her impact on both movement and attack speed in POE is significant.

Focal Point gives our mark more critical hit chance than it already does, and it gives us some damage reduction when facing groups. Also, marks you inflict are not removed from dying enemies.

Overall, Deadeye is an absolutely stunning Ascendancy with this build and it delivers everything we wanted.

Final Thoughts

Vaal Ice Shot Deadeye offers us an exciting gaming experience that combines the fun of trophy hunting with powerful offensive and defensive capabilities. While it may require a modest investment, it can often lead to substantial rewards and a dynamic play style.

Whether you’re a newbie or a veteran, this guide gives you all the information you need to complete your Vaal Ice Shot Deadeye build. May your loot always be rich!
